Commitment to Faculty Data Supports Vitas, Strategic Decisions at Indiana State University

With the support of the faculty senate and key administrators, Indiana State University has moved to a fully-scaled implementation of Activity Insight including all faculty and accreditation reporting, award applications and strategic plan reporting. Demonstrating Faculty Influence on Student Success With Radford University

Radford University’s road to demonstrating faculty influence on student success had a humble beginning—moving faculty annual reviews off of paper and into digital form. Charley Cosmato, Director of the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning at Radford, and Andrew Wiech, Digital Measures Senior Engagement Consultant, shared the university’s evolution at the recent American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) conference. Their presentation focused on both digitizing faculty reviews and using faculty activity data to measure faculty’s impacts on a range of strategic priorities, including student success and retention. The data needed to support strategic initiatives and measure a university’s institutional effectiveness come from many places, including faculty. So when the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) set its Top Tier initiative in place, it turned to Digital Measures Activity Insight  software for the faculty activity data needed to support its long-term goals, including boosting its Carnegie classification in research from R2 to R1 and achieving the Carnegie Engagement classification. Tondra De, Assistant Director of Faculty Affairs at UNLV, and David Sarnowski, Digital Measures Engagement Consultant, discussed how faculty activity data supports strategic initiatives at UNLV during the recent AIR Forum in Washington, D.C.

What Data Can and Can’t Do For Your University, Part 3

Data, and the ability to analyze and report on it, can transform universities. But in a recent article in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Mark Salisbury, assistant dean and director of institutional research and assessment at Augustana College in Illinois, noted that “[d]espite all the cheerleading that seems to have accompanied big data’s arrival on campus, its promise to transform higher education continues to surge well ahead of its supporting evidence.” So what can and can’t data do for your university? To answer that question, we’ll explore how you can use information from your data solution to transform your institution. We’ll also discuss your role in ensuring that your data solution delivers on its potential benefits at your university.
