Get Social With Your Peers at User Group 2017

2016 User Group fiestaAt User Group, our goal is to offer an equal dose of learning and fun. We’ve lined up a comprehensive agenda to ensure you learn the most you can from DMers and your colleagues. However, sometimes the chance to get social with your peers is just as valuable.

In addition to our evening events below, each day we made sure to include morning and afternoon breaks, as well as breakfast and lunch, as a time for you to network, meet with your consultant or take time for yourself. Continue reading “Get Social With Your Peers at User Group 2017”

Talking Among Ourselves at Lunch with DMers

Around noon on any given day at Digital Measures, you’ll find trios of DMers meeting up in the lobby to head out for “Lunch with DMers,” a tradition that developed as our company grew big enough that we don’t all work with everyone on the team every day.

The rules are simple: each month, choose two other DMers with whom don’t directly work and eat lunch together offsite—DM picks up the tab. DMers pop into our lively #lunchwithdmers Slack channel to connect with colleagues looking for lunch partners.

“The goal here is to give you an opportunity to connect with people that you don’t really interact with , outside of monthly meetings,” said Katelynn Schneider, Human Resources Manager. “These lunches don’t have an agenda, just some suggested questions to get the conversation started.” Continue reading “Talking Among Ourselves at Lunch with DMers”

Former U.S. Secretary of Education to Present Keynote at User Group 2017

We’re excited to announce the keynote speaker for User Group 2017, former U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Duncan served under President Barack Obama from 2009 through 2015, making major strides in our country’s system. Duncan’s tenure as secretary was marked by a number of significant accomplishments on behalf of American students and teachers, including funding for 325,000 teaching jobs, boosting the number of young Americans attending college and receiving postsecondary degrees and reforming student loans, among many others. Prior to being appointed the Secretary of Education he was the chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools.

A native of Chicago, Duncan is currently managing partner at Emerson Collective, working with entrepreneurs to provide jobs and training in underprivileged neighborhoods as a way to attack the city’s crime epidemic. He is also a distinguished senior fellow at the Harris School of Public Policy at the University of Chicago.

In an exclusive presentation for User Group attendees on Monday, October 9, Duncan will provide his outlook on education today. How do you inspire change and measure its impact? Learn how to evaluate changes your university implements so your campus can write its own stories of success.

DMers Learn Improv Techniques for Creativity, Collaboration

Once a quarter, the whole Digital Measures team comes together for an offsite event to get us out of our routines and into something surprising and fun. DMers have gone curling, cooked tapas, played maker’s golf and more. This time, we found ourselves at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater. After a quick tour of the Rep’s three performance spaces and extensive backstage workshops, we spent the afternoon improvising together. We had a blast, and came away with some fresh ways to creatively collaborate. Continue reading “DMers Learn Improv Techniques for Creativity, Collaboration”
