Last week we teased you with the highlights from Making an Impact-User Group 2016, so today we’ll share a recap. With just three days left for our User Group 2017 Pre-Sale ticket pricing, this is the perfect time to get a close-up look at the event, and what you can expect this October.
Representatives from more than 100 institutions, 39 states and three different countries made the trip to our home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for our 2016 event held October 9 through 11.
A number of clients arrived early to attend Sunday’s Fast Track to Activity Insight training. After a day-long learning session on key functionality of the system, 50 Activity Insight administrators passed the test and earned their well-deserved certification!
Sunday night we opened the doors to our home in Milwaukee’s Third Ward for a Welcome Fiesta, proud to share where we come everyday to collaborate with them. Some clients chose to enjoy their tacos on our terrace, while others huddled up to watch the projection of the Sunday night football game (after all, we are in Wisconsin).
Digital Measures CEO and Founder Matt Bartel kicked off Monday’s schedule with his annual DM Download, taking a look at the investments made in 2016, while looking ahead at what we have in store for 2017.
Keynote speaker Jeffrey Selingo shared findings from his latest book There is Life After College: What Parents and Students Should Know About Navigating School to Prepare for the Jobs of Tomorrow, describing how young adults should combine school with experience to prepare them for today’s job market. Attendees appreciated Selingo’s insights into a the changing university-to-career landscape. Everyone received a copy of Selingo’s book, and enjoyed the book signing that followed his presentation.
After putting in a full day, it was time to show off more of our hometown. So we loaded up the buses and headed to Miller Park, home to Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers. Greeted by the famous Milwaukee Brewers racing sausages, attendees enjoyed the stunning views of the park, its retractable roof open to the night sky, from the Gehl Club, and took a behind-the-scenes tour, including face time on the jumbo screen, a visit to the dugout and a chance to walk on the field itself. The night ended with dinner, dancing and a root beer float bar!
Two days featuring more than a dozen client presentations, success stories and roundtable discussions plus DMer presentations detailing enhancements ahead on the Activity Insight roadmap gave attendees plentiful food for thought. They left inspired by what Activity Insight can help them accomplish back on campus, including engaging faculty, letting data tell your university’s story, measuring impact of community engagement, lessons learned during implementation and even AACSB accreditation.
On the final day of User Group, we closed the conference with our annual awards, which included honoring the 40-plus clients which have been using Activity insight for more than 10 years. This is always a great reminder of why we do what we do—we love the community of DMers and client relationships we’ve built. And we can’t wait to have everyone back October 8-10, 2017!
