Milwaukee has been Digital Measures headquarters from day one and we appreciate the things that make our hometown special. That’s why DMers were eager to take the call for independent, commercial-free 88.9 Radio Milwaukee, answering phones for the station’s annual Spring Fund Drive.
Why Radio Milwaukee? DMers are encouraged to choose volunteer opportunities that reflect our interests and values. Many DMers are music fans—in fact, some are musicians—so Radio Milwaukee’s mission to champion local music, arts and culture, neighborhoods and community organizations resonated with the team.
“Support from the community is our largest and most stable source of revenue, so these membership drives are very important to Radio Milwaukee,” said Maggie Correy, Radio Milwaukee’s Membership Manager. “And answering phones is pretty fun because you get to understand why everyone is a fan.”
“It was great to be behind the scenes and see how they do what they do,” said Jason Kysely, Account Executive. “And it was fun to talk with people who were so excited to donate.”
Adrian Moreno, Engagement Consultant, agreed, adding, “It was cool to hear the reasons people support the station.”
Both Kysely and Moreno are regular listeners so they appreciated the chance to put faces to the voices of the on-air team, who work in the same room as the phone bank. At the end of DM’s shift taking donor calls, the station was on track to meet its fundraising goal for the event.
Thanks to the DMers who participated in this event. We’re already looking forward to our next volunteer outing, which includes fresh air, sunshine—we hope!—and an opportunity to get dirty planting community gardens.
